Towards an equitable funding system
The university’s funding needs to be thoroughly revised: third parties who disregard the university’s identity currently have too much control on the money flows. The academic fringe traditions disappear from research and education, and fraud and sloppy research are facilitated. In addition, the competitive struggle for funding is bad for both the job security and mental health of researchers. DAG is committed to more structural funding for vulnerable disciplines, and hopes to abandon the economical idea that competition automatically results in quality. Many of these issues are of a national nature, but some things can be solved within the university itself.
